You know that:
- The design of the aircraft originated in the late 1950s and brought many new technical solutions.
- The delta wing shape, together with a powerful engine, made the fighter the first in the world to exceed Mach 2 in horizontal flight.
- The first flight of the production version took place in October 1960.
- The aircraft was produced in large numbers both for the French Air Force and for many foreign customers such as Switzerland, Argentina, Israel, Spain and Pakistan.
- The C-version machines were primarily intended as interceptors for French air defence.
- Despite being an older design, the machines equipped with the latest electronics are still a very dangerous adversary today.
- The Mirage III was also flown by Israeli pilot Giora "Hawkeye" Epstein, who shot down 17 enemy aircraft during the Six-Day and Yom Kippur Wars, and is considered the greatest aerial ace among jet fighters.
- This particular aircraft can be seen at the Albert-Somme Museum of Industry and Aviation in France.
