German half-track vehicle Sd.Kfz 9/1 FAMO COBI 2281 - World War II

You know that:

• The development of the vehicle began as early as 1936 on the basis of a German army request for a powerful off-road vehicle for towing heavy guns and loads of up to 22 tons.
• The vehicle was manufactured by FAMO, Vomag, but also by Czechoslovak TATRA.
• The first prototype, designated the FM GR1, was equipped with a powerful Maybach engine, but it consumed 100 litres of petrol per 100 km of driving, and even up to 300 litres in the field.
• The series-produced F3 model received a new engine, but the problem of high consumption was not solved, on the contrary.
• The salvage vehicle 9/1 had a Billsten crane with a capacity of 6,000 kg and a winch with a pull of up to 40 tonnes installed instead of a cargo compartment.
• In later versions, some parts of the metal structure were replaced by wood due to a shortage of material.
• FAMO vehicles were widely used for towing heavy tanks over longer distances, with two FAMO vehicles lined up in a row behind each other.
• A total of 2,500 units were produced in various versions.
